In the thrilling conclusion to Nightwing: Year One, Bruce is on the operating table as Jason Todd, the new Robin, and Dick Grayson attempt to save Alfred from Killer Croc. As Batgirl lends a hand, Dick seems to finally come into his own as a hero. When Batman calls everyone back to the Batcave Dick stops at home first, giving Batgirl a tape to give to the Boss. In the tape Dick explains that every son needs to leave the nest at some point, and that Bruce was the best Father he could ask for, given the circumstances.
